Articles about John McFall / Governor and McFall deep bows
Bank of England governor Mervyn King and Treasury Select Committee Chairman concluded months of sparring by politely congratulating each other after Mr King’s last session before the Committee ahead of the impending election.
Mr. King noted it was his 17th appearance before the committee since the crisis erupted and the 19th before a parliamentary committee in 29 months – perhaps some sort of record.
“It hasn’t been fun, if I’m honest, and it hasn’t been easy,” the governor said, although he added that it had been productive.
“I know you and some of your colleagues may not be here after the election on the committee,” Mr King said to Mr McFall, but added he could take pride in its efforts.
“The quality of the reports has been very high and it has resulted in reforming the UK financial sector.” High praise indeed from the former academic.
